A story of faith, calling, and a heart to serve the people of Honduras.
Meet Connie Mertan
I was blessed to grow up in a Christian home where my family taught me the importance of faith, compassion, and serving others. I was born and raised near the communities in Honduras that remain close to my heart.
From a young age, I watched my parents reach out to those in need, offering help and showing the love of Christ through their actions. Their example had a lasting impact on my life and helped shape the desire God placed in my heart to serve others.
A Personal Faith
At the age of nine, I came to understand that Christianity was not simply about attending church; it was about having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
One Sunday evening, during a powerful church service, the pastor invited those who desired to know Christ personally and receive Him as their Savior to respond. In that moment, I knew deep in my heart that God was speaking directly to me.
I recognized my need for Jesus, and that night I surrendered my life to Him.
A Calling to Serve
Since that day, I have sought to walk faithfully with the Lord, trusting Him to guide my path. Through every season of life, God has protected me, provided for me, and shown me His unfailing love and faithfulness.
As I reflected on His many blessings, I became convinced that He was calling me to give back by serving others.
Although I have a special connection to the communities where I was raised, I believe God’s calling extends beyond one place. My desire is to serve the people He places in my path, wherever He leads, by sharing His love, showing compassion, and bringing hope through the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Heart Behind Hope Design Ministry
This calling led to the beginning of Hope Design Ministry.
Through this ministry, my prayer is to be a vessel of God’s love by serving individuals, families, and communities with compassion, practical support, and opportunities for a brighter future.
Above all, my desire is that every person we encounter would know that they are loved by God and experience the hope and transformation found in Jesus Christ.
